Hi, I’m Brad.
Co-founder of Truevision and EPICenter, and founder of PillowSoft LLC, which I started in 1996 to have a place to do innovative software development on my own terms. Indianapolis, Indiana. Purdue MS in computer science, back when the department still had a machine room you could hear.
Mostly retired, still building
These days I get to choose the problems, and I’ve chosen two: AI technologies, and application development in Flutter. Retirement turns out to be the best conditions I’ve ever had for learning something new — no roadmap, no quarter, no one to convince.
Before that: work close to the metal and close to the user, which sounds contradictory and mostly isn’t. Codecs, image formats, embedded firmware, GPU work, iOS and Android, .NET and F#, React and its many descendants, cloud platforms for hardware that ships in boxes. Thirty years in, the useful skill was never any one of those — it was knowing which layer the problem is really on.
Outside of that: a father, a swing dancer, a singer, a baker who over-proofs things, a kayaker, a photographer, an armchair physicist and a sci-fi reader with no self-control about series length. Can one have too many hobbies? Unresolved.

Say hello anyway
I’m not taking on new projects at the moment, but I like hearing what people are building — especially if it involves video, weird hardware, or a bakery.
